I am incredibly proud of our staff, who are doing everything they can to help and make the systems we have put in place work. We are currently operating with 20% of our staff being unable to work in the practice, as they have been identified as vulnerable and need to self isolate for a minimum of twelve weeks (shielding).
PLEASE have patience with us if prescription requests take a bit longer than usual. We will get to them as soon as we can.
PLEASE don't phone the practice to chase them - each phone call made could be blocking someone who needs medical advice as it ties up the phone line.
PLEASE register for online access and request prescriptions online, wherever possible. This is quicker, easier and safer for you, our staff, and our local pharmacies.
PLEASE don't request prescriptions too early, or request medications that can be bought over the counter. Stockpiling medications, or any other items for that matter, seriously impacts local and national supply chains.
Please help us to keep helping you - Routine NHS care is going to rely on patience and common sense from both us as a practice, and you as our patients.
Patients on regular medication do not need to see a doctor for a repeat prescription of their medication. Wherever possible, request repeat prescriptions online - once set up, this is quicker, easier, and less likely to be 'lost' than paper. You will need to register for systmonline to do so. If you have to use paper, you will be issued with a computer request slip which will be attached to the right hand side of your prescription. This should be kept in a safe place and returned to the surgery when you require further medication.
Please remember the following points:
- Tick the item required.
- Request slips should be posted, brought to the surgery (we have a 24 hour posting box at the surgery entrance).
- If you are going on holiday and requesting your prescription early, please include this information on your request slip.
We regret we are unable to accept requests over the phone. Prescriptions can be posted to you if a stamped addressed envelope is provided.
Prescribing over the counter medications is changing
Please allow 48 hours for your prescription to be processed (Monday—Friday) and a further 24 hours to be processed if sent directly by us to Moors chemist.
Repeat Prescriptions for Three Legged Cross Patients
For Three Legged Cross Patients who cannot get to West Moors we have provided a 'Secure Locked Box' at the Londis Shop in Three Legged Cross where Patients can put their prescription requests. The prescription requests will be collected daily and sent directly to your nominated Pharmacy - Please allow 3 working days in case they miss the collection for the day. This is a trial service at the moment.

Unwanted/Out of Date Medication
Unwanted or out of date medication can be safely disposed of at any chemist, we cannot take it at the West Moors surgery and unwanted medication can no longer be destroyed at Rushmore House, Three Legged Cross.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
